What urban technology trends do you think will impact urban planning?
Analyzing cellular phone data
Apr 17, 2014 Konstantinos P1

Cellular phone data are ubiquitous. It is not smartphone data; it is more general. Almost everyone has a cell phone and therefore is "passively" being tracked. These data can reveal the way people respond to natural disasters, to road accidents, what are they daily patterns (both in terms of urban mobility as well as communication patterns). Even though there is a wealth of data available today, I firmly believe that cellular phone data are the "crown jewel" of the data era in urban planning.
