What makes a "smart city"?
Addressing Inequality
Mar 22, 2015 Richard E16

I like how New York's mayor Bill De Blasio emphasized the Tale of Two Cities in his inauguration speech. Inequality was highlighted when the city asked a developer to set aside a part of the former Domino Sugar Factory in Williamsburg for low income housing for redevelopment in sustainable housing and mixed use in a former brownfield. New York is unique since it has to deal with population growth from emigration and immigration, global climate change from the effects of Hurricane Sandy, and now inequality just as Boyd Cohen remarked in his talk.
