What is your big idea for a smarter city?
Network-based public space to save the sense of community
May 08, 2013 Maggie D5

Admittedly, the city is getting smarter with the development of social media. But it also about brings some negative results like the loss of the traditional affinity among neighbors. So smarter public space design may be of help using the network technology.
For examle, when strangers are waiting for a bus, the location-based network may connect them through smartphones, so they can have some information of each other via online messages. And if they find they are neighbors or schoolmates or working in the same districts, they can start talk to each other. Thereby a new but old relationship has been built and the sense of community may get revived. Maybe they can also achieve a car pool so the traffic problem can also benefit from it, right? :)
