What is your big idea for a smarter city?
Micro-Grid development from Public-Private funding.
Updated: May 07, 2013 Erik M5

The Micro-Grid idea in of itself is too expensive for right now. However in areas like New Jersey the idea caught on cause of Sandy. ( the recent super storm hurricane.) Here the grid is composed of several "micro grids" that can disconnect and work independently fromm each other in the case of disaster, but can re connect during normal peak times to lighten the load on the Macro-grid, from utilites.

The concept is noble and utopian, but is very difficult now to become obtainable. However if private investors invested in it for communities and they created public private partnerships it could become closer to a reality. Presently there are public-private partnerships in the renewables sector and this is showing fruits to some degree.
