What is your big idea for a smarter city?
Creating Networks of Like-Minded People

I think what has always attracted me to city was the amazing variety of people that live in them. The diversity of cultures and ideas has always inspired me and it is comforting to know that you can find someone who shares the same interests, hobbies and ideas as you.

The role of the smart city should be to connect people to other like themselves and at the same time giving people access to new ideas and opinions to help them grow as a person. I think this can be achieved by city governments promoting the meeting of these people face-to-face but also in the virtual world. This will not only promote unity but could have possible economic benefits through the exchange of ideas.

The real challenge is how a city can facilitate this interaction. It is not new for governments to strive for this network but what is new is the technology available in the city and the increased connectivity of its citizens. All we need to do is organize the connections that are already there.
