My idea is to help disadvantaged communities stretch rare fractional T-1 connections from commnity centers through wireless mesh networks and use programs such as One Laptop Per Child (OLPC) to help connect communities and provide equipment to learn technology. With community support, a wireless mesh network can be built in order to start creating digital communities. Some communities are considered too impoverish or dangerous for cable companies to provide service - wireless mesh network provides a new means to connect. Providing the infrastructure will allow the formation of digital communities to take advantage of tools to collaborate. This will allow the citizens to truly voice their opinions and help their community.
