CycleOn –Technology to repair and improve bike routes
Jun 01, 2013 Lindsay V3

CycleOn, an app, collects accelerometer data while cyclists ride their usual routes about the bumpiness/smoothness of the road. CycleOn records this data along with the GPS location and transmits it to the city. As more and more riders use the app, the data can be aggregated to see what sections of bumpy roads are ridden on most frequently and need more immediate repairs.

Cities can use CycleOn data to pinpoint and prioritize road repairs and inform future cycling infrastructure development based on most commonly used bike routes.

The end goal is to improve the cycling experience for seasoned riders and encourage more people to bike.
