Accurate spatial data required in developing cities

One of the biggest challenges we face in African cities (I'm in the industry so am quit close to it) is getting the municipalities and utility departments to understand the economic value locked in accurate spatial data. Not all data requires centimetre accuracy but critical infrastructure does. Too often the focus is on the cost of capture rather than the revenue potential locked in the data that could be leveraged.

If we could get municipalities to accurately capture, maintain the serve spatial data this would enable the supply chain, the public and stakeholders to have a solid base to work from.

The concepts of smart cities and geodesign could nicely integrate.
