A mobile app that can sync with rented bike share bikes

The app could be downloaded on the user's mobile device. Identification numbers and or/QR codes could be posted on each bike and the app user could scan this identifier. The bikes GIS systems and other sensors could then relay information to the mobile app. Data could be used to track mileage, speed, route/trips and even calories burned. It would operate similar to apps that have already been developed for running and use with private bikes but would be unique in that, incorporating individual user information with a public service, such as bike share, could create a community and a great data source.
