Name some types of data that you suspect are not collected where you live, but that may be very useful for planning purposes.
Food wasted daily in restaurants and supermarkets
May 19, 2013 Teresa J2

In times of crisis, social concern around the tones of food wasted everyday raises constantly. Some estimates exist around the amounts wasted in households, supermarkets or other types of markets, restaurants and along the production and distribution line.

In the cities, some information collecting system could be developed to find out how much food is actually being thrown away every day by restaurants, markets and supermarkets (doing it at a household level might incur in some privacy issues...).

This way, knowing what kind of food, when and where it is wasted, better social programs might be developed to deliver this food (as long as it does not present food safety issues) to needed households/citizens.
