How would you use RFID's to improve your city?
We used RFIDs to calculate race competition times...

A few years ago I worked with a non-profit organization that held a race competition (running) as a fund-raiser. We built a simple RFID system to calculate each runner's race times. We had a sensor at the beginning and end of the race, and each competitor had an RFID wristband. At the end of the race, our software instantly calculated everyone's times for reporting, as well as sorted to see who the top finishers were by age/category.

Not a world-changing application of RFIDs I concede, but just an example of leveraging the technology to be "smarter".
