Can You Even Call it Urban Technology

Obviously there were technological advances before in rural settings, however, would it not be fair to say that the conglomeration of people in an urban setting has led us to many if not most of our technological advances as we seek ways of making things easier on ourselves or improving our condition. Without the city I don't believe we would have even close to this level of technology and subsequently we cannot distinguish 'urban technology' from 'technology'. Thus I would define technology as anything that improves upon our current state of living in a way that benefits society
