My little brother (11 years old) uses the sandbox game Minecraft daily. It helps him with spatial awareness and fine motor skills. I have also noticed a marked improvement in his ability to interact with computers. His experience with adding what he calls "mod packs" is essentially coding, teaching him computer skills and the structural components are helping him grasp concepts important to his dream job; architect. Many teachers are now talking about using the game in the classroom. This is one case in which I encourage him to spend more time on his computer!
