On April 15, 2013 there was a tragic bombing at the Boston Marathon. Almost instantly pictures and videos of "suspects" started to appear on the web. Was this a good thing? Do you have concerns?
We need to learn to live in the crowd but check the information
Apr 28, 2013 Marta R1

We won't remove the technology. Stopping cameras in mobile phones? Unimaginable today.

However, we, as a society need to learn how to live in the information world. How to be adults and not trust in everything we see online (or, btw in any media). We need to get a habit to verify the information. I do not know a good service that would do exactly that (wikipedia is not about this exactly, but may be a start), but I'm sure it will appear. Wikipedia policy on the entries is a good start to develop this.
