On April 15, 2013 there was a tragic bombing at the Boston Marathon. Almost instantly pictures and videos of "suspects" started to appear on the web. Was this a good thing? Do you have concerns?

There are also positives

Quite many people (me included) address the privacy concerns in this discussion. However, there are also positives. Let's note some:
* people are engaged more easily (they *care*)
* crowd may (and quite probably will) have more information than the investigators

The problem was, in my opinion, that they posted the "suspect" images publicly while they should have passed what they know to the authorities.
