Smart Cities can address climate change by incorporating more renewable energy technologies in their infrastructure and services. Like sensors that detect traffic flow and pedestrians can run on solar cells instead of traditional electricity. Also, city vehicles that perform services like bus transit and waste cleanup could run on cleaner fuel such as compressed natural gas or hybrid technology. Educating the public on how they could participate in renewable energy practices by implementing them on their own private property could address climate change issues as well in smart cities.
